It is described as a rock opera concept album. "The Church of the Wild Ones" tour supported the album from January-April, 2013. Wretched And Divine: The Story Of The Wild Ones - Ultimate Edition CD/DVD was released on June 11, 2013.

A film titled Legion of the Black was released in support of the album which tells the visual story of the concept presented in the album.
